HMRC have, today, announced grants of up to £2,000 to support SMEs to meet the costs of training and/or professional advice to deal with disruption due to Brexit.

Businesses can use the SME Customs Grant money for Professional Services, Advisory or Training to help their business:

  • Minimise Brexit disruption to your supply chain
  • Map your Product’s Rules of Origin & Claim 0% tariffs
  • Understand how to request & complete Import & Export Certificates
  • Learn how to file Import & Export declarations in the UK & EU

Eligibility

Businesses must meet the eligibility criteria set out by HMRC’s SME Customs Grant Team:

  1. Businesses must: have an annual turnover not more than £100 million not have more than 500 employees at
  2. Businesses must be an importer or exporter of goods between GB and EU countries or moves goods between GB and Northern Ireland
  3. The business must be either established in the UK for at least 12 months prior to the submission of its application
  4. The business must have a permanent establishment or branch in the UK, at both the time of application and payment of the grant.
  5. The business must be in good standing with HMRC.
